Allegiant Stadium time-lapse video includes look at features in Raiders’ new home

Slowly but surely we are starting to see what the Las Vegas Raiders’ new stadium will look like. The Raiders not only changed locations, moving from Oakland, but are getting a brand new backdrop to go with it. Allegiant Stadium is nearly complete and is expected to be ready to go by the start of the 2020 NFL season.

The official Twitter account for the stadium gave us a blast from the past, back to 31 months ago when there was nothing but dirt on the ground in the same spot.

The video showed the progress that has been made and just how much work has gone into the $2 billion stadium.

They also posted a clip from the latest episode of the “From the Ground Up” series, giving a closer look and explanation to some of the stadium’s elements.

It has a moveable field tray with real grass, which can be seen in the video.

They also decided not to create a retractable roof, because half the crowd would be in the sun and half would be in the shade, an issue that is amplified with the Vegas weather.

Still wanting to give the fans the outdoor environment, they went with a retractable wall that opens up towards the strip. This way the crowd can be in the shade, but it still gives that feeling of being outdoors.

The light coming into the stadium can also be controlled.

The video scans the inside of the stadium, from the field to the jet black seats, before giving the night view of the stadium lit up and surrounded by the lights of the city.

Previously, the team revealed they will have the world’s largest 3D-printed structure, an 85-foot Al Davis memorial torch.

It is still not known if fans will be able to see the stadium for themselves this season, as the coronavirus still presents an issue to the league.

The first home game scheduled for the Raiders is a preseason game on August 27 against the Arizona Cardinals, but that could change if the preseason is shortened.

The first regular season game scheduled at Allegiant Stadium is in Week 2 when the Raiders host the New Orleans Saints.
