LOOK: Twins minor league affiliate lists ballpark on Airbnb as rental, offers full access to field, clubhouse

Baseball is at a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, leaving many ballparks across the country unusually vacant. But for one minor league baseball team, they’re improvising and coming up with a unique way to keep their ballpark in action amid the COVID-19 shutdown. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A Southern League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, placed their ballpark up for rent on Airbnb.

Blue Wahoos Stadium is currently listed on the site for $1,500 per night and can accommodate up to 10 guests. Included in the rental, guests will have access to the Wahoos’ newly-renovated clubhouse, a large bedroom, the batting cage and baseball field during their stay. Here are some more details from the team’s Airbnb listing:

For the first time ever, a professional baseball stadium is available for rent on AirBnB, giving fans the most intimate, behind-the-scenes ballpark experience in history. Whether you’d like to host an unforgettable overnight trip with your youth league team, throw an unbeatable birthday bash, stage a corporate retreat that will make you an office hero, or spend your bachelor party living your sports dream, Blue Wahoos Stadium is the ultimate rental.

Want to hit with your friends in our batting cage? Be our guest! Want to play catch on the field at 11:30 PM? Be our guest! Want to take batting practice while having a couple cold ones with the boys? Be our guest! Want to take down your siblings in ping pong and video games in the clubhouse? Be our guest! Want to enjoy breakfast at home plate? Be our guest!

According to the Airbnb listing, the Wahoos’ clubhouse includes four leather couches, two flat-screen TVs and a ping pong table among other amenities. Guests will be able to access the batting cage with bats, balls and helmets provided, and they will be able to enjoy full and exclusive access to the baseball field. A Blue Wahoos staff member will remain on-site throughout the stay to answer any guest questions and provide security.

The once-in-lifetime experience isn’t the only offering the Wahoos have set up during baseball’s shutdown. The club is also hosting movie nights, takeout services for lunch and dinner, family-sized meals and grocery item pickup as well as a nine-hole disc golf course designed by Blue Wahoos co-owner and PGA Tour golfer Bubba Watson.
