2021 3M Open Fantasy golf rankings, picks: Back Tony Finau, fade Rickie Fowler at TPC Twin Cities

With the PGA season winding down, players will be scrambling for FedEx Cup points when the 2021 3M Open tees off Thursday at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn. Many of the world’s top players are recuperating from the British Open or preparing for the Olympics, so golfers on the fringe of the top 125 are eager to improve their chances of making the playoffs. Dustin Johnson heads the field and just posted his best finish since late February, finishing in a tie for eighth at the Open Championship. The reigning FedEx Cup champion is the 15-2 favorite in the latest 2021 3M Open odds from William Hill Sportsbook, followed by Louis Oosthuizen (14-1) and Tony Finau (16-1).

Is Johnson ready to make another extended run and prove to be a worthy option for your 2021 3M Open Fantasy golf picks? Or will a notable player like Sergio Garcia (35-1) or Rickie Fowler (40-1) seize their chance against the weaker field and give you a better chance to win? Before making any 2021 3M Open Fantasy golf picks, don’t miss the latest Fantasy golf rankings from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

McClure is a DFS pro who has won almost $2 million, and he has been red-hot with his picks since the PGA Tour resumed last summer. In fact, his picks have brought in more than $10,500 since the June restart, bringing in profits at tournament after tournament.

At the 2021 Open Championship, McClure’s best bets included Collin Morikawa winning outright even though he was listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. He was also all over Daniel Berger (+220) and Emiliano Grillo (+700) finishing inside the top 20. McClure’s best bets netted over $2,200 at the Open Championship.

In addition, McClure’s model was all over Jon Rahm’s (10-1) first career major championship victory at the 2021 U.S. Open. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the weekend, but the model still projected him as the winner. And at the 2021 Masters, McClure nailed Rahm’s (+250) top-five finish in his best bets, as well as Corey Conners’ (+550) top-10 showing.

McClure’s model has also nailed a whopping seven majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now, McClure has revealed his top 30 players for the 3M Open 2021. Be sure to head over to SportsLine so you can cash in big with your Fantasy golf picks

2021 3M Open Fantasy golf picks

McClure likes Tony Finau’s chances of finally getting that elusive second tour win. The 31-year-old tied for 15th at the Open Championship last week, shooting a final-round 67, so he should come in with confidence. He has finished in the top 10 seven times this season, including the Masters and PGA, and has a pair of runner-ups. Finau ranks 17th on tour in scoring average (70.001), seventh in strokes gained around the green and 10th tee-to-green. The weaker field could allow the veteran to finally break through for his first victory in more than five years.

On the other hand, McClure is fading Rickie Fowler, who is one of the most notable names in the field. The former tour rookie of the year is in the middle of a huge pack of players listed at around 40-1, but he doesn’t even crack McClure’s top 25. The 32-year-old has missed eight cuts in 22 events this season and has just one top-10 finish. He did shoot a final-round 65 at Royal St. George’s, but he also finished T-53. Name recognition and a depleted field might tempt you to make Fowler one of your Fantasy golf picks, but there are many other better options.
