2021 Sanderson Farms Championship Fantasy golf rankings, picks, lineup advice: Back Sam Burns, fade Sungjae Im

The PGA Tour season gets rolling again Thursday when the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship tees off at the Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi. Defending champion Sergio Garcia comes in off the Ryder Cup, where he went 3-1 in his matches but could not help Team Europe hang with the Americans in a 19-9 loss. The former Masters champion shot 19-under par last year in Jackson to beat Peter Malnati by one stroke for his 11th and most recent PGA Tour title.

Caesars Sportsbook lists Will Zalatoris and Sam Burns as the 18-1 co-favorites in its latest 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship golf odds. Garcia (22-1), Sungjae Im (22-1) and Corey Conners (22-1) are among the other golfers from the Sanderson Farms Championship field expected to contend.

Can Zalatoris fulfill oddsmakers’ expectations and be a boon for your 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship Fantasy golf picks? Or would another overlooked rising star like Matthew Wolff (50-1) put you in a better position to win? Before locking in any Fantasy golf picks or bet on the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship, you need to check out the projections and analysis from proven fantasy expert Riley Gates.

Gates is a writer for 247Sports and has covered a range of sports for nearly five years. He has followed golf closely for much longer and has a profound knowledge of the sport. He also knows what it takes to win, on the course and in fantasy sports.

At the season-opening Fortinet Championship two weeks ago, six of Gates’ top 10 picks finished in the top-25, including winner Max Homa. “Not many are looking at Homa when trying to pick contenders, but you never know when he will get hot,” Gates told SportsLine.

The result? Homa shot a seven-under 65 in the final round to surge to a one-stroke victory over Maverick McNealy for his third PGA Tour victory.

Now, Gates has locked in his top 20 golfers for the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship. You can only see his Fantasy golf picks and rankings at SportsLine.

2021 Sanderson Farms Championship Fantasy golf picks

This week in Jackson, Gates is all in with Burns. The 25-year-old got his first tour victory at last year’s Valspar Championship and finished the season on a strong run. He had two top-10s in his final four events, including a T-2 at the WGC-St. Jude, and closed with 69-68 to finish T-18 at the Tour Championship. He was ninth for the year in strokes gained putting and fifth in birdie average, and both of those stats will be huge on a course like this. Scores always go low in Jackson, and Burns was fourth in par breakers, so he should score well this week.

On the other hand, Gates is slightly fading Im, who doesn’t crack the Fantasy expert’s top-five. The South Korean also had a pretty solid finish, but his 2020-21 season was up-and down, as he was in the top-25 in less than half his events (16 of 35). He was 28th at the 2020 Sanderson Farms, with just one round under 70. He doesn’t hit it a long way (96th in driving distance), which could put him at a disadvantage at the Country Club of Jackson. He finally took time off, so he should be rested, but Gates is a little wary and has better options for your Fantasy picks.

How to set your 2021 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship golf rankings

For the event in Mississippi, the Fantasy expert has a long-shot nearly at the top of his list who comes in at well over 30-1. This player had a victory last season and had some top-10 finishes in a few of the bigger events. He could thrive in this second-tier field and pull off a victory in Jackson. You really need to see who it is and check out Gates’ top predictions before you bet the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship or enter any Fantasy golf picks.
