MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy, advice for September 8, 2021

MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy, advice for September 8, 2021

While Fernando Tatis Jr. has held his own defensively since moving to the outfield, his bat has cooled off since the position switch. Tatis is hitting just .213 as an outfielder compared to .293 when he was manning the shortstop position. But his recent slump presents an opportunity to roster him for cheap amongst MLB DFS lineups when his Padres take on the Angels at 8:10 p.m. ET.

Tatis’ overall numbers are still too good to ignore as he leads the NL with 37 home runs despite missing 32 games. Should you confidently make him one of your top MLB DFS picks considering the whole of his 2021 season? Or does his recent slump factor in too much and should you look elsewhere in the MLB DFS player pool? Before settling on any MLB DFS lineups, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Tuesday, McClure recommended Dodgers second baseman Trea Turner as one of his top MLB DFS picks. The result: Turner went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored, which returned 10 points on DraftKings and 12.2 points on FanDuel. Those that included him in their lineup were well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2021 MLB season rolling on, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Wednesday. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for September 8, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday is Braves third baseman Austin Riley at $3,700 on FanDuel and $5,400 on DraftKings. Riley’s on a nice run as over his last five games, he’s reached base safely nine times, driven in seven runs and posted a 1.117 OPS.

Riley has had a breakout campaign this season and ranks in the top 10 in home runs (29), RBI (87) and batting average (.303). He’s hitting a blistering .350 since the All-Star Game and already has more homers since the Midsummer Classic than he had before, despite playing in 40 fewer games. The 24-year-old gets a nice matchup on Wednesday versus Sean Nolin (0-2, 5.71) of the Nationals. None of Nolin’s four starts have been quality and he’s allowed a .342 batting average to opponents.

Part of McClure’s MLB DFS strategy also includes rostering Royals shortstop Nicky Lopez ($2,800 on FanDuel, $3,700 on DraftKings). The third-year player ranks seventh in the American League in batting average (.292), third in triples (five) and eighth in stolen bases (19).

As the weather heated up, so did Lopez who has been on fire since June. After batting just .227 through the first two months of the season, Lopez is hitting .323 since the calendar flipped to June. That includes his last four games in which he’s gone 7-for-17 (.412) with three runs scored and one stolen base. With the way he’s been swinging as of late, you can see why McClure is so high on Lopez for Wednesday’s MLB DFS lineups.
