College football odds, lines, picks, predictions for Week 2, 2021: Computer model backing Iowa, Michigan

College football returned with plenty of intriguing games last weekend, and it will offer more of the same as the Week 2 college football schedule unfolds Saturday. There are a pair of games between ranked teams, including No. 3 Ohio State vs. No. 12 Oregon and No. 9 Iowa State vs. No. 10 Iowa. The Buckeyes and Ducks have not met since the 2015 national championship game. They will square off Saturday at noon ET.

Ohio State is listed as a 14.5-point favorite in the latest Week 2 college football odds at Caesars Sportsbook. No. 21 Utah is a seven-point road favorite at BYU in one of the other Week 2 college football spreads. Where are the best values in those lines and others? Before making any Week 2 college football picks, be sure to see the latest college football predictions and betting advice from SportsLine’s proven model.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Now, it has turned its attention to the latest Week 2 college football odds from Caesars and locked in picks for every FBS matchup. Head here to see every pick.

Top Week 2 college football predictions

One of the top college football picks the model is recommending for Week 2: No. 10 Iowa stays within the spread as a 4.5-point underdog against No. 9 Iowa State. There are not many teams in the country that got off to a better start than Iowa. The Hawkeyes were dominant from start-to-finish in their 34-6 win over then-No. 17 Indiana. They picked off Hoosier quarterback Michael Penix Jr. three times and allowed just a pair of field goals.

Running back Tyler Goodson opened the scoring with a 56-yard rushing touchdown to set the tone. Iowa State, meanwhile, is coming off a lackluster Week 1 win over Northern Iowa. Points are always valuable in a rivalry game, which creates some value on Iowa. The model is projecting the Hawkeyes to cover in well over 50 percent of simulations.

Another one of the college football predictions from the model: Michigan (-7) covers against Washington at Michigan Stadium on Saturday. These teams are trending in completely opposite directions following Week 1. Washington is coming off one of its worst losses in program history, as FCS Montana notched a 13-7 road win. The Huskies were inept offensively and now they have to go on the road.

Michigan breezed through its opener, blowing out Western Michigan in a 47-14 final. Quarterback Cade McNamara completed 9-of-11 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. The model is expecting another solid performance from McNamara and Michigan, who are covering this spread in 60 percent of simulations.
