Matchups

vs. BAL, vs. PIT

The guy still boasts a 1.50 ERA and has barely been touched in nine turns through the rotation. The matchups are clearly fantastic, but at this point, he should be starting regardless.

He hasn’t been quite as impressive as Ranger Suarez but is similarly being overlooked despite a long string of success. His underlying numbers are worrisome, but he breaks all convention with the way he mixes up his delivery.

The top one-start pitcher on this list earned his spot with a brilliant outing against the Red Sox early in Week 25 and will face a similarly slumping offense in Week 26. His follow-up against the Royals over the weekend was just icing on the cake.

Matchups

vs. PIT, vs. WAS

He has failed us in more recent turns but was looking like a quality start machine earlier this season and couldn’t ask for much better matchups than these two. He’s probably worth it in points leagues.

MIN Minnesota • #74 • Age: 25

He’ll have gotten a little extra rest since taking a liner off the wrist in his last start and has so far proven as difficult to hit in the majors as he was in the minors.

OAK Oakland • #19 • Age: 27

The overachieving lefty has rebounded from his worst start of the season with back-to-back quality starts against suspect lineups. He’ll face another one of those this week.

MIA Miami • #44 • Age: 23

His last outing didn’t deliver the desired result, but he’s been trending in the right direction, making better use of his off-speed pitches. And, well, two matchups are better than one.

KC Kansas City • #51 • Age: 25

His latest outing was disastrous, but he seemed like he was on the right track in the previous four and has two excellent matchups this week.

WAS Washington • #23 • Age: 28

Leaning more on his curveball has led to a spike in whiffs for Erick Fedde, but the overall results are still inconsistent. He’s a bit of a desperation play given the bipolar matchups, but you have to like how available he is.

KC Kansas City • #43 • Age: 24

He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his past nine starts, but one of the two in which he fell short was last time out, when he got rocked. He’ll be facing one of the 10 worst offenses in baseball this week, though.
