Utah State @ Air Force

Current Records: Utah State 2-0; Air Force 2-0

What to Know

The Utah State Aggies are 1-5 against the Air Force Falcons since November of 2015, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Saturday. The Aggies and Air Force will face off in a Mountain West battle at 7:30 p.m. ET at Falcon Stadium. The odds don’t look promising for Utah State, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.

Utah State’s game against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks last week was close at halftime, but Utah State turned on the heat in the second half with 28 points. Utah State put the hurt on North Dakota with a sharp 48-24 win. The victory came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 21-7 deficit. Utah State QB Logan Bonner was slinging it as he passed for four TDs and 391 yards on 33 attempts. Bonner’s 75-yard touchdown toss down the left side of the field to WR Deven Thompkins in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the night.

Meanwhile, the Falcons had enough points to win and then some against the Navy Midshipmen last week, taking their matchup 23-3. RB Brad Roberts was the offensive standout of the contest for Air Force, punching in two rushing touchdowns.

Air Force’s defense was a presence as well, as it got past Navy’s offensive line to sack the quarterback five times for a total loss of 26 yards. Leading the way was LB Demonte Meeks and his two sacks. Meeks now has 2.5 sacks.

Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 2-0. We’ll see which team can carry over their success and which team inevitably falls when Utah State and the Falcons clash.
