2021 AEW Full Gear card, matches, start time, PPV preview, how to watch, location, date

The final AEW PPV of 2021 is finally here, and it’s bringing the heat. The upstart promotion is set to host Full Gear on Saturday night in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and feature a match card filled to the brim with top talent going at it. The main event is expected to feature the long-awaited match between AEW champion Kenny Omega and challenger “Hangman” Adam Page.

Almost all of AEW’s top stars are scheduled for the event, with Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, The Young Bucks, Adam Cole and women’s champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. all set for action, plus many more.

The action goes down Saturday from Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It will be available via pay-per-view and begins at 8 p.m. ET with a Buy-In show starting at 7 p.m. Let’s take a look at all the action to set down and our predictions for who will walk out of Full Gear as a winner.

2021 AEW Full Gear card, predictions

AEW World Championship — Kenny Omega (c) vs. “Hangman” Adam Page

Page’s character arc has been one of the best things since the inception of AEW. From failing in the match to crown the first AEW world champion to a tag title run with Omega by his side to their subsequent break-up and the destruction of his self-confidence, Page has gone through a complete journey. Dark Order helped him find his confidence once again and crowds have been absolutely rabid for Page in recent months. Taking on Omega, the dastardly champion who has repeatedly turned his back on his former friend, has only made the crowd hotter for Page. Now the two men clash for the biggest prize in the company on one of the best cards AEW has ever put together. — Pick: Adam Page wins the title

AEW Women’s Championship — Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (c) vs. Tay Conti

Baker has emerged as the biggest star AEW has built in the women’s division, but the division is still very much under construction. That could change in the early part of 2022, with recent WWE releases putting some very talented competitors on the market and AEW continuing to build up their own talent. For now, however, Conti is a talented option as a title contender, but one who hasn’t had much of a build to this match. — Pick: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. retains the title

Bryan Danielson vs. Miro

This match is the finals of the world championship eliminator tournament, with the winner getting a shot at the belt. Danielson is living his best life since joining AEW, wrestling the kind of matches that anyone who has followed his career since the independents know appeal to his very soul. The winner of this match largely comes down to who goes over in the main event. Omega and Danielson already have one incredible 30-minute draw in their back pocket and a rematch for the title would be great. If Page wins, Miro is probably the better option as his first challenger, setting up a face vs. heel dynamic. Since we are prediction a Page title win … — Pick: Miro wins

CM Punk vs. Eddie Kingston

Punk and Kingston have been telling a truly incredible story through their promos and it’s impossible as a wrestling fan to not love what they’re doing. Kingston finally getting a shot to be a star after being a constant fixture on the independents is wonderful and Punk’s return is, obviously, a huge deal for the company. But nothing is going to get across the story of this match like the video below. — Pick: CM Punk wins

The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana & Ortiz) vs. Men of the Year (Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky) and American Top Team (Junior dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski & Dan Lambert)

American Top Team’s involvement in AEW shows has been polarizing, to say the least. Page and Sky have proven to be a good team with the ability to go on the microphone or in the ring, but have been somewhat tied down by the involvement of Lambert and his squad of mixed martial artists. Jericho and The Inner Circle also feel like they’re in something of a stay-busy moment after their lengthy feuds with MJF and his friends. This has potential to be fun, but a lot of AEW fans are also hoping it’s a wrap for the storyline. — Pick: The Inner Circle wins

AEW Tag Team Championship — Lucha Brothers (c) vs. FTR

Full Gear is certainly not lacking in potentially great matches, and the battle for the tag titles between Lucha Brothers and FTR could still end up stealing the show. Lucha Brothers won the titles at All Out, beating The Young Bucks in a cage match that ranks among the best matches in the history of AEW. FTR are former champions and among the best tag teams in the world. The match should be great, but it doesn’t feel like there’s much of a chance that AEW is ready to end the Lucha Brothers’ title reign so quickly. — Pick: Lucha Brothers retain the titles

Darby Allin vs. MJF

Allin and MJF are two young men who will be stars in pro wrestling for the coming decades. Allin had a long run as TNT champion and has maintained a relevant spot after his title reign ended. While Allin is a great young face, with a top-tier connection to fans, MJF is his direct opposite as a pure heel who is basically incapable of acting as a fan favorite. Both men will be fine coming out of this match and it largely comes down to who benefits more from a win. In that respect, there’s a lot of reason to get Allin a win after he came up short against CM Punk at All Out. — Pick: Darby Allin wins

Christian Cage & Jurassic Express vs. Superkliq (Adam Cole & The Young Bucks)

A world of talent is set for this match. The Young Bucks have obviously been one of AEW’s top acts since the promotion started, but Cole’s addition has been massive and he’s been on fire since debuting. Cage is lending a veteran hand where needed and him helping out with Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy will make for some good fun. We’ve already seen some really fun matches come out of the rivalry between the two sides and this will fit nicely on a night of great action, — Pick Superkliq wins
