Air Force @ Colorado State
Current Records: Air Force 6-3; Colorado State 3-6
What to Know
The Air Force Falcons are 4-1 against the Colorado State Rams since October of 2015, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success Saturday. Air Force and Colorado State will face off in a Mountain West battle at 7 p.m. ET at Canvas Stadium. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
The Falcons fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Army West Point Black Knights last week but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 21-14. The game was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Air Force was outplayed the rest of the way. A silver lining for them was the play of QB Haaziq Daniels, who passed for one TD and 226 yards on 22 attempts in addition to picking up 54 yards on the ground. Daniels’ performance made up for a slower game against the San Diego State Aztecs three weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Colorado State came up short against the Wyoming Cowboys last week, falling 31-17. Colorado State’s loss came about despite a quality game from WR Dante Wright, who snatched two receiving TDs.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with Air Force going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. The odds have been favorable for them against the spread on the road this season, even if it’s been tough sledding overall. They are 2-0 ATS in away games but only 4-4 all in all.
The losses put the Falcons at 6-3 and the Rams at a reciprocal 3-6. Two offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Air Force is 240th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 94 on average. Colorado State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the ninth fewest overall offensive touchdowns in the nation, having accrued only 19 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
