The New Orleans Saints now officially know what the length of Deonte Harris‘ suspension will be. On Monday, the NFL announced that the Saints wide receiver would be suspended three games after being arrested for DUI in July. Harris appealed the initial three-game suspension last month, but did so unsuccessfully.

In 11 games played this season, Harris has caught a career-high 31 passes for 523 yards and three touchdowns. He caught four passes for 96 yards and a touchdown last Thursday in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The return specialist earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in his rookie season in 2019 after he returned 36 punts for 338 yards and a touchdown, along with 24 kick returns for 644 yards. Harris has been seeing more time as a true receiver this year, but will now be inactive until Week 17.

Per NFL.com: “According to the NFL’s policy and program for substances of abuse, absent aggravating circumstances, discipline for a first offense DUI is suspension without pay for three games. Discipline for a second or subsequent offense is eight games”. Harris was sentenced to one year of supervised probation after pleading not guilty to driving under the influence.

The 5-7 Saints are on a five-game losing streak and quickly falling behind in the NFC playoff race. They travel to New York to take on the Jets this Sunday.
