What to Know
The Utah State Aggies have enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they must head out on the road. They will square off against the #24 Brigham Young Cougars at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Marriott Center. The Aggies have not won a single game against BYU in their most recent matchups, going 0-6 since December of 2015.
Utah State was close but no cigar last Thursday as they fell 60-58 to the Saint Mary’s Gaels. Guard Rylan Jones had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with only seven points on 3-for-12 shooting and turning the ball over four times in his 35 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, BYU didn’t have too much breathing room in their game with the Missouri State Bears on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 74-68 win. Four players on BYU scored in the double digits: guard Alex Barcello (21), guard Te’Jon Lucas (17), guard Spencer Johnson (14), and forward Caleb Lohner (10). Lucas hadn’t helped his team much against the Utah Valley Wolverines last week, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
Utah State is expected to lose this next one by 6. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.
Brigham Young’s victory lifted them to 7-1 while Utah State’s loss dropped them down to 6-2. On Saturday the Cougars relied heavily on Alex Barcello, who had 21 points. It will be up to Utah State’s defense to limit his damage.
