Western Carolina @ Georgia
Current Records: Western Carolina 6-5; Georgia 4-6
What to Know
The Western Carolina Catamounts have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. They and the Georgia Bulldogs will compete for holiday cheer at 7 p.m. ET on Monday at Stegeman Coliseum. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’
The Catamounts entered their contest against the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs two weeks ago without any home losses — but there’s a first time for everything. Western Carolina was just a bucket short of a win and fell 73-72 to UNC-Asheville.
Meanwhile, the matchup between UGA and the George Mason Patriots this past Saturday was not particularly close, with UGA falling 80-67. Guard Aaron Cook wasn’t much of a difference maker for UGA; Cook finished with only four points on 2-for-10 shooting in his 33 minutes on the court.
The losses put Western Carolina at 6-5 and UGA at 4-6. A couple numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Western Carolina is 11th worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 10.5 on average. UGA has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 39th fewest takeaways in college basketball, having accrued only 11.5 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
