NBA DFS: Tyrese Haliburton and top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for Dec. 20, 2021

Since coming back from a foot sprain that held him out for four games between the end of November and beginning of December, Kings forward Harrison Barnes has played himself back into early season form. After four starts with mixed results, Barnes has turned it on over his last three, and built a strong case as a quality option in the NBA DFS player pool. Over his three most recent games, he’s averaged 17.7 points with 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

Sacramento faces Golden State on Monday night in the second game of a back-to-back, and Barnes scored a team-high 24 points to go with seven rebounds when the teams last met on October 24. Barnes has made four starts this season that follow a game on the previous night, and in those games he’s averaged 19.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Like many other teams, the Kings have numerous players out due to health and safety protocols, so is Barnes a candidate to go off again tonight in NBA DFS lineups? Before finalizing any NBA DFS picks, be sure to check out check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Sunday, McClure had Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton as one of his top NBA DFS picks on FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Haliburton showed out against the San Antonio Spurs, with 27 points, 11 assists, four rebounds and two steals to return 54 points on DraftKings and 51.3 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, December 20 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, December 20

Haliburton also leads McClure’s top Monday NBA DFS picks at $7,000 on DraftKings and $7,700 on FanDuel. After a three-game lull last week in which he simply wasn’t shooting much, Haliburton has been far more aggressive in his last two starts and scored 48 total points in those games. In those matchups he’s hit 60 percent of his attempts from the field and from three-point range as well.

Golden State has had the best scoring defense in the NBA, but over a third of Haliburton’s shots taken this season have come when the closest defender has been six-or-more feet away. Haliburton was already in the Kings’ starting lineup, but he’s seen more time on the floor as the team contends with so many inactive players. The added volume has translated to added value for daily Fantasy players.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes stacking Haliburton with Sacramento guard Buddy Hield ($5,800 on DraftKings and $5,100 on FanDuel). Hield scored a game-high 29 points and made 7-of-9 three-point attempts in Sunday’s win against the Spurs. Over his last six games, Hield has averaged 18.2 points and 1.7 steals per game, and started in the Kings’ last two matchups.

With De’Aaron Fox sidelined, Haliburton has taken over point guard duties and Hield has been dropped into the starting two-guard role. Warriors opponents have the fourth-lowest three-point percentage this season, but Hield is hitting 68.2 percent of his shots from beyond the arc over his last three games. In a matchup where the Kings are going to need to put up points, he should be expected to keep jacking up those three-balls to keep the Kings competitive.
