NBA DFS: Karl-Anthony Towns and top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for Dec. 21, 2021

After he missed seven games due to a hamstring injury, Devin Booker returned to action for the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. The Suns beat the Charlotte Hornets, 137-106, and Booker played reasonably well in the 26 minutes he was on the floor with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists. The plan on Sunday was clearly not to overwork Booker in his first game back, and if that continues to be the case on Tuesday, it could limit his potential in NBA DFS lineups.

Phoenix gets back to work on Tuesday against a Los Angeles Lakers team that has been maligned with various injuries and numerous players in health and safety protocols. Is Booker a strong option out of Tuesday’s NBA DFS player pool against a Lakers team in disarray? Before finalizing your NBA DFS picks on sites like FanDuel or DraftKings, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Monday, McClure had Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton as one of his top NBA DFS picks on FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Haliburton continued his strong recent run of play against Golden State, with 24 points, 11 assists, four rebounds and three steals to return 51.5 points on DraftKings and 49.3 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Tuesday, December 21 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Tuesday, December 21

One of McClure’s top Tuesday NBA DFS picks is Minnesota center Karl-Anthony Towns, at $9,900 on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Since missing a game against Brooklyn (tailbone) on December 3, KAT has picked back up where he left off and has resumed his role as one of Minnesota’s top scoring options. In his last seven starts, he’s averaged 25.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

Minnesota plays the second game of a home-and-home set against Dallas on Tuesday. Towns led the Timberwolves in scoring on Sunday against the Mavericks with 24 points, to go with seven rebounds and six assists. Dallas is short-handed, with numerous players out due to injury or protocols. Included in that group is Luka Doncic, who has been ruled out for the game, and center Kristaps Porzingis, who is questionable with a toe injury. Against a diminished Mavericks team, Towns should have a great opportunity for another big night.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Knicks power forward Julius Randle ($10,300 on DraftKings and $8,800 on FanDuel). Since a rough couple of games on December 10 and 12, where he made just a third of his shots and scored 21 total points against the Raptors and Bucks, he’s been back in top form. Over his last three games, he’s averaged 24 points with 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

The Knicks take on the lowly Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. Over the last three games, Detroit opponents have scored 52.7 points in the paint, where five of Randle’s six made shots against the Celtics came in a loss on Saturday. New York has yet to play Detroit this season, but in three meetings against the Pistons last year, Randle averaged 27 points with 10.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
