What to Know
The Fairfield Stags will be returning home after a three-game road trip. They will take on the Wagner Seahawks in a holiday battle at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday at Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard. Wagner will be strutting in after a victory while the Stags will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Fairfield lost a heartbreaker to the Massachusetts Minutemen when they met in November of 2019, and they left with a heavy heart again on Sunday. It was close but no cigar for Fairfield as they fell 77-73 to UMass. Forward Allan Jeanne-Rose put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 21 points.
Meanwhile, Wagner entered their contest on Monday as the heavy favorite, and they fully lived up to expectations. They were totally in charge, breezing past the Delaware State Hornets 93-51 at home.
The Stags are now 8-4 while the Seahawks sit at 5-2. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Fairfield enters the matchup with only 5.3 steals given up per game on average, good for 32nd best in college basketball. But Wagner comes into the game boasting the 29th most steals per game in college basketball at 9.6. Ball control might end up being a major factor in this one.
