Delaware State @ Penn State
Current Records: Delaware State 2-11; Penn State 5-5
What to Know
The Delaware State Hornets are staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Penn State Nittany Lions at 6 p.m. ET Dec. 29 at Bryce Jordan Center. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’
There’s no need to mince words: the Hornets lost to the Temple Owls last Wednesday, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 85-48. Myles Carter (19 points) was the top scorer for Delaware State.
Meanwhile, the game between Penn State and the Michigan State Spartans two weeks ago was not a total blowout, but with Penn State falling 80-64 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. One thing holding Penn State back was the mediocre play of guard Sam Sessoms, who did not have his best game: he finished with 12 points on 6-for-12 shooting in his 26 minutes on the court.
Delaware State is now 2-11 while the Nittany Lions sit at 5-5. Two numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Hornets are stumbling into the matchup with the 29th most turnovers per game in college basketball, having accrued 15.5 on average. Penn State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 355th worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 9.4 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
