South Carolina State @ South Carolina
Current Records: South Carolina State 7-8; South Carolina 9-3
What to Know
The South Carolina Gamecocks will play host again and welcome the South Carolina State Bulldogs to Colonial Life Arena, where tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday. These two teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.
The Army West Point Black Knights typically have all the answers at home, but last Wednesday the Gamecocks proved too difficult a challenge. USC made easy work of the Black Knights and carried off a 105-75 win. The margin was wide but not a surprise since the spread was 11 points in USC’s favor. They got double-digit scores from four players: guard Devin Carter (22), guard Chico Carter Jr. (20), guard Erik Stevenson (13), and guard Jacobi Wright (11). Erik Stevenson’s performance made up for a slower matchup against the Clemson Tigers two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, South Carolina State bagged a 75-65 victory over the Charleston Southern Buccaneers last Tuesday.
USC is now 9-3 while South Carolina State sits at 7-8. A pair of stats to keep an eye on: The Gamecocks have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 37.20%, which places them 14th in college basketball. Less enviably, the Bulldogs have only been able to knock down 39.70% percent of their shots, which is the 18th lowest field goal percentage in college basketball.
