Cornell @ Syracuse
Current Records: Cornell 8-2; Syracuse 6-5
What to Know
The Cornell Big Red are 0-5 against the Syracuse Orange since December of 2015, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Wednesday. Cornell will hit the road for the second straight game as they head to Carrier Dome at 7 p.m. ET. ‘Cuse should still be riding high after a victory, while the Big Red will be looking to get back in the win column.
Cornell took a serious blow against the Virginia Tech Hokies three weeks ago, falling 93-60.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for ‘Cuse at home against the Brown Bears on Monday as the team secured a 93-62 win. ‘Cuse’s guard Buddy Boeheim did his thing and had 28 points along with five boards.
Cornell have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 15 point spread they are up against. Those burned by picking them against the spread three weeks ago might want to keep in mind that the squad has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.
The Big Red are now 8-2 while the Orange sit at 6-5. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Cornell ranks second in college basketball when it comes to points per game, with 88.1 on average. Less enviably, ‘Cuse is stumbling into the matchup with the 23rd most points allowed per game in college basketball, having given up 76.5 on average.
