The Dolphins currently hold the last wild card slot in the AFC playoff picture by way of win percentage in common games over the Ravens, Chargers and Raiders. When scanning the Week 17 NFL DFS player pool, should you consider options from teams that are battling for a postseason berth? Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has been one of the top players in the Fantasy football QB rankings this season, but failed to take advantage of a premium matchup against Houston in Week 16.
Raiders running back Josh Jacobs had a splash game with 129 rushing yards against a tough Denver defense last week. Are their performances last week indicative of what you can expect in your NFL DFS lineups in Week 17 NFL DFS tournaments and cash games on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel? Before locking in your Week 17 NFL DFS picks, be sure to check out the NFL DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.
McClure is a legendary professional DFS player with almost $2 million in career winnings. His methodology has led to enormous cashes on FanDuel and DraftKings. He took down two high-stakes tournaments on FanDuel in 2020 and recorded a pair top-10 finishes in tournaments with over 130,000 entrants on DraftKings. His lineups also finished inside the top 1 percent in more than a dozen other tournaments last season.
He uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every snap of NFL action, taking factors such as matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account. This allows him to find the best DFS values that he shares only with members at SportsLine.
Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Week 17 slate of games and locked in his top daily Fantasy football picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NFL DFS picks for Week 17
One of McClure’s top NFL DFS picks for Week 17 is Chiefs running back Darrel Williams ($5,800 on DraftKings and $6,200 on FanDuel). Starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire left last week’s game against Pittsburgh after nine carries with a collarbone injury and was unable to return. Reports suggested he could be available to play this week, but with Williams and fellow running back Derrick Gore available, there’s no pressure for the Chiefs to rush him back.
Williams started five games earlier this season and finished with 244 yards on 69 carries with three total touchdowns. Those numbers aren’t jaw-dropping, but he should be able to make an impact against Cincinnati. Removing last week against a perilously depleted Baltimore team, the Bengals allowed 233 rushing yards in the previous two games to San Francisco and Denver, and the Bengals have allowed the fourth-most receptions to opposing running backs this season.
Part of McClure’s optimal NFL DFS strategy includes rostering Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown ($6,100 on DraftKings and $8,500 on FanDuel). Brown finished outside of the top 20 Fantasy wide receivers last week despite having an impressive day in the Buccaneers’ 32-6 win over Carolina in which he hauled in 10 catches for 101 yards. Had he caught a touchdown, he would have been a clear top-15 receiver on the day.
The Bucs play the New York Jets on Sunday, who were missing seven defensive starters last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jets have allowed remarkably few yards and touchdowns to opposing wide receivers this season despite their struggles, but that’s not likely to be the case this week. Brown enters Week 17 as Tampa’s top receiver with Chris Godwin out for the year and Mike Evans likely out again this week. Tom Brady has thrown 57 career touchdowns against New York, and he’ll be looking for Brown all day long.
