What to Know
The Orlando Magic haven’t won a game against the Boston Celtics since April 7 of 2019, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Sunday. The Magic will take on Boston at 6 p.m. ET at TD Garden after having had a few days off. If the game is anything like their last meeting in last November, where the Celtics won 92-79, we could be in for a big score.
Orlando’s 2021 ended with a 136-118 defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks this past Thursday. Small forward Franz Wagner (20 points) and center Moe Wagner (19 points) were the top scorers for Orlando.
Meanwhile, Boston wrapped up 2021 with a 123-108 win over the Phoenix Suns. Boston’s center Robert Williams III looked sharp as he posted a triple-double on 11 boards, ten points, and ten assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Williams III has had at least 11 rebounds.
The Magic have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 10.50 point spread they are up against. Now might not be the best time to take Orlando against the spread since they’ve let down bettors for the past two consecutive games.
Boston’s victory lifted them to 17-19 while Orlando’s loss dropped them down to 7-29. We’ll see if the Celtics can repeat their recent success or if Orlando bounces back and reverse their fortune.
