After missing two games (health and safety protocols), Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been cleared to return to play on Monday night against the Miami Heat. During Green’s absence from the lineup, Otto Porter Jr. had an expanded role in the Warriors offense in recent games and is coming off of a 20-point performance against Utah. With Green coming back to the Warriors’ lineup, is Porter a viable option as a value play against Miami in Monday’s NBA DFS player pool?
Porter had a bit of a breakout game against Phoenix on Christmas, knocking down three 3-pointers and scoring 19 points with Green in the lineup. Over his last five games, Porter has made three starts and hit nearly 43 percent of his 3-point attempts. The Heat have allowed opponents to hit 37 percent of their shots from deep in their last three games and Golden State has taken the third-most 3-pointers per game this season. On Sunday, McClure included Pacers F/C Domantas Sabonis as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Sabonis came within one point of matching his season-high scoring total with 32 points to go with 13 rebounds and seven assists. His 62.25 points on DraftKings and 58.1 points on FanDuel saw him finish as the top power forward on both sites. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.
Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, January 3 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, January 3
One of McClure’s top Monday NBA DFS picks is Nets superstar James Harden at $11,300 on DraftKings and $11,400 FanDuel. Harden has been unstoppable since missing four games two weeks ago. In his last four starts, he’s averaged 35.5 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds per game.
Fellow Nets star Kevin Durant lamented following a New Year’s Day loss to the Los Angeles Clippers that his team’s intensity and focus isn’t where it needs to be. Harden is equally crucial to Brooklyn’s success as Durant, and when extra intensity is called for, Harden’s response on the court is critical. The Nets play Memphis on Monday, and the last time the Grizzlies played a premier two-guard, Phoenix’s Devin Booker unloaded 30 points on them on December 27. Lock Harden in your NBA DFS lineups and look for a big return against Memphis.
Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley ($5,200 on DraftKings and $6,100 on FanDuel). Beverley is coming off of one of his most productive games this season against the Lakers on Sunday. He scored 12 points to go with nine rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Beverley has already made three starts against Monday’s opponent, the Clippers, this season, but hasn’t factored heavily into the results. However, without Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell (protocols) in the lineup, he should have a clearer path towards Fantasy production. Several other Minnesota players have been flagged to watch for conditioning, so Beverley appears to be one of the few safe bets in the Timberwolves’ rotation on Monday.
