Also powering Akron is sophomore forward Enrique Freeman, who is averaging a double-double with 12.7 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. He had a season-high 24 points and a season high-tying 14 rebounds in an 88-86 victory over Marshall on Dec. 1. On Dec. 6, Freeman was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.

He poured in 21 points in the win over Western Michigan on New Year’s Day.

Sixth-year senior forward Jason Carter returned to Ohio this year after spending the last two seasons at Xavier. He is a solid offensive option, averaging 13.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. Carter has reached double-digit scoring in 11 of 12 games, and has posted a pair of double-doubles. At Western Michigan on Saturday, Carter scored 17 points, and grabbed eight rebounds.
