What you need to know about the Lakers

Los Angeles will be well-rested coming into this game, as it has not played since picking up a 122-114 win at home over Sacramento on Tuesday. The Lakers are riding a three-game winning streak and have won four of their last five. They have been without star big man Anthony Davis since Dec. 17 due to a knee injury.

Forward LeBron James has taken over since then, averaging 34.3 points over the last nine games. He poured in a season-high 43 points against Portland last Friday. The Lakers have won 12 of their last 15 home games against Atlanta and have covered the spread in four of their last five games this season.

What you need to know about the Hawks

Atlanta did not have much breathing room in its contest with Sacramento on Wednesday, but it still came away with a 108-102 victory. The Hawks relied on small forward Kevin Huerter, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds in addition to five dimes. He should get some more help on Friday, as star guard Trae Young is expected to return after sitting out with a bruised lower back.

Young is coming off a 56-point performance against Portland on Monday. The Hawks should also get John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Jalen Johnson back after they cleared COVID-19 protocol. Head coach Nate McMillan remains in the protocol, so he will not be with the team in Los Angeles.
