Lamar Jackson continues to miss practice with ankle injury ahead of Ravens’ Week 18 matchup vs. Steelers

Lamar Jackson’s odds of playing in the Ravens‘ regular-season finale took another dip on Thursday. The former league MVP did not practice for a second consecutive day as he continues to work through an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined for the past three weeks. Jackson has practiced just once since sustaining the injury during Baltimore’s loss to Cleveland back in Week 14.

Jackson practiced in a limited capacity last Wednesday before he was held out of practice on Thursday and Friday. He was listed as questionable before he was ultimately ruled inactive for Baltimore’s Week 17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. With Jackson out, Tyler Huntley received his third start of the season. He went 20 of 32 for 197 yards with an interception, while also running for 54 yards on six carries in Baltimore’s 20-19 loss.

Huntley has never played against the Steelers, who the Ravens will have to beat on Sunday if they have any chance at making the playoffs. Along with defeating Pittsburgh, Baltimore would need the Colts to lose to the Jaguars, the Dolphins to lose or tie against the Patriots and the Chargers to lose to the Raiders. The Steelers, who defeated the Ravens by a point back in Week 13, need to beat the Ravens and have the Jaguars upset the Colts to make the playoffs for a second consecutive year.

While the Ravens may not have Jackson, the Steelers may be without one of their top players in receiver Diontae Johnson, who was placed on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday. Johnson caught 8 of 11 targets for 105 yards and two touchdowns when the two rivals last met.
