Team news

Manchester United: The expectation is for Dean Henderson to get the start in goal here, while this could also be an opportunity for a player like Jesse Lingard to see some significant minutes after the congested holiday schedule. Phil Jones also appears likely to start at center back for United, perhaps next to Raphael Varane, as Harry Maguire has been dealing with an injury and is doubtful.

Aston Villa: Villa are fairly healthy, though a thigh injury may see Leon Bailey miss out, which would be a blow to the club’s speed and creativity in attack. Meanwhile, Tyrone Mings is back at center back after serving a suspension, but Steven Gerrard will not have Trezeguet with the Egyptian winger away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Cristiano Ronaldo is needed off the bench, and the Portuguese superstar fires home an equalizer before Mason Greenwood wins it in extra time. Pick: Man. United 2, Aston Villa 1 in ET
