NBA DFS: Dejounte Murray and top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for Jan. 10, 2022

The last game on Monday’s NBA schedule is also one of its most intriguing, when Brooklyn visits the Portland Trail Blazers. Star Damian Lillard isn’t likely to be available, setting up an interesting matchup between Brooklyn’s Kyrie Irving and Portland’s Anfernee Simons. Irving will be playing in just his second game this season, while Simons has started the last four games for Portland and averaged 29 points and 6.8 assists in those games. With a limited sample size for both in their adjusted roles for their respective teams, is either a safe bet in Monday’s NBA DFS player pool?

Irving made 52.9 percent of his shots as part of a 22-point debut against Indiana on January 5, while Simons’ recent run of play was highlighted with a 43-point showing against Atlanta on January 3. Simons also dropped 31 points in his last start against Sacramento on Sunday. Perhaps both would pair well in NBA DFS lineups when making selections for tournaments on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel. Before finalizing your NBA DFS picks for Monday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Sunday, McClure included Lakers superstar LeBron James as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: James had 35 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists to return 56.75 points on DraftKings and 53.3 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, January 10 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, January 10

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Monday is Spurs guard Dejounte Murray at $9,700 on DraftKings and $10,400 on FanDuel. After a five-game hiatus (protocols), Murray has resumed his high level of play over his last three starts. During that run, he averaged 22.7 points, 11 assists and 7.7 rebounds. He hasn’t been overly efficient since his return, but his offensive usage rate has been over 34 percent in two of his last three starts.

The Spurs visit New York on Monday, and the two teams have already played once this season. Murray took a bit of a backseat to teammate Derrick White in that one, but still finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and a steal against a Knicks team that has been tough against opposing guards this season. With White and a host of other Spurs out due to health and safety protocols, Murray should have the green light to fire away at the basket all night.

Another key in McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes stacking Murray with Spurs shooting guard Lonnie Walker IV ($4,200 on DraftKings and $4,400 on FanDuel). Walker made his first start since November 1 on Sunday against Brooklyn, and scored 25 points with four assists. With White and others out for San Antonio again on Monday, Walker is in line to make another start at New York.

Against the Nets, Walker had an even higher offensive usage rate than Murray, at 29.4 percent, and finished second on the team in shot attempts with 20. As a team, the Spurs shot a pedestrian 43 percent against Brooklyn, so nobody for San Antonio was particularly sharp, but the Knicks are coming off an absolute clunker in their last game against Boston. Walker should be considered the second scoring option behind Murray, but that same role was just fine for Boston’s Jaylen Brown on Saturday, as he shot 60 percent from the field and finished with 22 points and 11 assists against the Knicks.
