How to watch Trail Blazers vs. Kings basketball game

Who’s Playing

Sacramento @ Portland

Current Records: Sacramento 16-25; Portland 14-24

What to Know

The Sacramento Kings are on the road again on Sunday and play against the Portland Trail Blazers at 9 p.m. ET Jan. 9 at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter. If the game is anything like the Kings’ 125-121 victory from their previous meeting in November of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.

Sacramento came up short against the Denver Nuggets this past Friday, falling 121-111. A silver lining for Sacramento was the play of point guard De’Aaron Fox, who had 30 points and five assists along with seven boards. Fox’s night made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 30 points.

Meanwhile, Portland lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers at home by a decisive 114-101 margin. The top scorers for Rip City were small forward Norman Powell (19 points) and power forward Robert Covington (17 points).

Barring any buzzer beaters, Sacramento is expected to win a tight contest. Those sticking with them against the spread have guts, to put it politely, as the team has let down bettors in their past three games.

The losses put Sacramento at 16-25 and Rip City at 14-24. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Kings are third worst in the league in points allowed per game, with 113.9 on average. Rip City has experienced some struggles of their own as they have allowed their opponents to shoot 47.90% from the floor on average, which is the highest shooting percentage allowed in the league. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
