Antonio Brown admits wild exit from Buccaneers-Jets game ‘probably wasn’t necessary’

It was the exit seen around the world. In Week 17 against the New York Jets, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Antonio Brown took off his shoulder pads, his jersey, and his shirt in the middle of the game and ran through the end zone to the locker room while hyping up fans. Recently, it was learned that Brown and head coach Bruce Arians had a disagreement about the wide receiver’s ankle injury, which led to the bizarre scene at MefLife Stadium.

Whether it’s Brown or the Buccaneers organization that’s in the wrong when it comes to this situation, the star wideout certainly did not help himself by making a bizarre, shirtless departure with the game going on in the third quarter. Brown says he realizes that now.

“It probably wasn’t necessary or professional,” Brown told TMZ while on his way to dinner with Kanye West.

The Buccaneers officially released Brown last week, and his camp released a lengthy statement alleging a “cover-up” when it came to the receiver’s ankle issue. An MRI apparently revealed “broken bone fragments” stuck in his ankle, a ligament torn from the bone and cartilage loss. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Brown is set to undergo surgery next week.

This is not the first dramatic exit Brown has had from an NFL franchise, but the 33-year-old is apparently not done with football just yet. He said in a recent Instagram post that he’s looking forward to next season.
