After two games on the road, the Duquesne Dukes are heading back home. The Dukes and the Dayton Flyers will face off in an Atlantic 10 battle at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. The teams split their matchups last year, with Dayton winning the first 72-63 at home and Duquesne taking the second 69-64.
Duquesne was just a bucket shy of a victory on Wednesday and fell 72-71 to the Fordham Rams. The contest was as close as the oddsmakers predicted, but Duquesne had been the slight favorite coming in. Forward Kevin Easley Jr. had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with only seven points on 3-for-13 shooting in his 34 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, Dayton didn’t have too much breathing room in their matchup with the Saint Louis Billikens on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 68-63 win. Guard Malachi Smith (14 points) and guard Kobe Elvis (14 points) were the top scorers for the Flyers.
The Dukes are now 6-8 while Dayton sits at 10-6. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Duquesne has allowed their opponents to shoot 45.60% from the floor on average, which is the 36th highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. Dayton’s offense has more to brag about, as they they come into the game boasting the 30th highest field goal percentage in college basketball at 48%.
