What you need to know about the Hawks

Atlanta was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Friday as its fell 124-118 to the Miami Heat. Atlanta’s defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of point guard Trae Young, who had 24 points and nine assists, and small forward De’Andre Hunter, who had 20 points along with three blocks.

That was the fourth straight loss for Atlanta, and the Hawks failed to cover in any of those setbacks. To help shake up a talented but underperforming roster, the Hawks sent Cam Reddish to the Knicks for Kevin Knox and a future pick earlier this week. Knox could make his debut for Atlanta in this one. Clint Capela (ankle) remains day-to-day for Atlanta.

What you need to know about the Knicks

Meanwhile, New York made easy work of Dallas and carried off a 108-85 win on Wednesday. Small forward R.J. Barrett and center Mitchell Robinson were among the main playmakers for the Knicks as the former had 32 points in addition to seven rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 boards.

Reddish is out with an ankle injury, so he won’t debut against his former team. He’ll join Derrick Rose (ankle) on the bench, while Kemba Walker (knee) remains day-to-day
