Duke @ Florida State
Current Records: Duke 14-2; Florida State 10-5
What to Know
The #6 Duke Blue Devils are 6-1 against the Florida State Seminoles since February of 2016, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Duke and FSU will face off in an ACC battle at 9 p.m. ET at Donald L. Tucker Center. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
The Blue Devils had enough points to win and then some against the NC State Wolfpack this past Saturday, taking their game 88-73. Center Mark Williams was the offensive standout of the contest for Duke, almost dropping a triple-double on 19 points, 11 boards, and eight blocks. Williams has also now had at least three blocks in his past four games. Williams’ points were the most he has had all year.
Meanwhile, FSU didn’t have too much breathing room in their matchup with the Syracuse Orange this past Saturday, but they still walked away with a 76-71 win. FSU’s guard Caleb Mills looked sharp as he shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and finished with 19 points and five dimes. Mills’ performance made up for a slower matchup against the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes last week.
The Blue Devils are the favorite in this one, with an expected 5-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.
The wins brought Duke up to 14-2 and the Seminoles to 10-5. A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Duke enters the matchup with only 9.9 turnovers per game on average, good for 12th best in college basketball. But FSU ranks 29th in college basketball when it comes to takeaways, with 16.4 on average. We’ll see which of these strengths — offense or defense — will win out.
