How to watch South Carolina vs. Georgia basketball game

Who’s Playing

Georgia @ South Carolina

Current Records: Georgia 5-13; South Carolina 10-7

What to Know

The South Carolina Gamecocks are 10-3 against the Georgia Bulldogs since February of 2016, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success Saturday. USC and UGA will face off in an SEC battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks won both of their matches against UGA last season (83-59 and 91-70) and are aiming for the same result this time around.

The game between USC and the Arkansas Razorbacks on Tuesday was not a total blowout, but with USC falling 75-59 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. Guard Erik Stevenson had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: he finished with only three points on 1-for-12 shooting in his 26 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have to be aching after a bruising 83-60 loss to the Auburn Tigers on Wednesday. UGA was surely aware of their 21.5-point disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result. Guard Christian Wright (16 points) was the top scorer for UGA. Wright hadn’t helped his team much against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

USC is the favorite in this one, with an expected 10-point margin of victory. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past three games, so buyers beware.

The losses put USC at 10-7 and UGA at 5-13. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Gamecocks are stumbling into the contest with the second most turnovers per game in college basketball, having accrued 15.9 on average. The Bulldogs have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 13th worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 10.4 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
