What to Know
The #20 Xavier Musketeers and the Marquette Golden Eagles are even-steven against one another since January of 2016 (7-7), but not for long. The Musketeers’ road trip will continue as they head to Fiserv Forum at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday to face off against Marquette. Xavier escaped with a win on Wednesday against the DePaul Blue Demons by the margin of a single free throw, 68-67. It was another big night for Xavier’s forward Jack Nunge, who had 23 points along with six boards.
Speaking of close games: on Wednesday Marquette sidestepped the Villanova Wildcats for a 57-54 win. Forward Justin Lewis and guard Greg Elliott were among the main playmakers for Marquette as the former shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and finished with 21 points and seven rebounds and the latter had 14 points.
Their wins bumped the Musketeers to 14-3 and the Golden Eagles to 13-6. We’ll see which team can carry over their success and which team inevitably falls when Xavier and Marquette clash.
