The knockout stage in the Africa Cup of Nations is underway. The field has been trimmed to 12 teams, with half of the round of 16 completed. Burkina Faso became the first country to advance to the quarterfinals, ousting Gabon in an intense penalty shootout. Nigeria were then eliminated by Tunisia, who also moved onto the last eight on Sunday. Cameroon and Gambia joined them as quarterfinalists on Monday, knocking out Comoros and Guinea, respectively.
Mo Salah and Egypt have a round of 16 clash with Ivory Coast set for Wednesday.
