Utah’s Donovan Mitchell (concussion) appears likely to miss a fourth consecutive game on Monday, which takes a top name out of the day’s NBA DFS player pool. Joe Ingles has taken his place in the starting lineup, but the question for daily Fantasy basketball players is how much Mitchell’s absence affects Jordan Clarkson’s production. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year is coming off of a poor showing against Golden State on Sunday, but in his two previous games against Houston and Detroit, he was on top of his game.
In those two matchups, he had 39 total points, eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Phoenix makes for another tough defensive opponent, but the Jazz need Clarkson to provide a lift on offense with others like Bojan Bogdanovic (knee) and Rudy Gobert (calf) either questionable to play or out. Can Clarkson provide value to NBA DFS lineups on Monday? Before finalizing your NBA DFS picks for Monday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

On Sunday, McClure included Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Morant finished with 35 points, 13 rebounds and six assists to return 60.25 points on DraftKings and 55.6 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.
Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, January 24, NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, January 24
One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Monday is Chicago forward DeMar Derozan, who is listed at $9,100 on DraftKings and $9,000 on FanDuel. His depleted Bulls side couldn’t pull out the win on Sunday night against the lowly Orlando Magic, but he still had a strong game. DeRozan dropped a game-high 41 points to go with five rebounds and two steals.
McClure included DeRozan in his picks for Sunday as well, and he was a top-five player at two positions on FanDuel, and the top-scoring power forward in DraftKings’ main slate NBA DFS tournaments. On Monday, the Bulls take on an Oklahoma City team that has been a bottom-five Fantasy defense against opposing forwards on both sites. Chicago has yet to play OKC this season, but with San Antonio last year, DeRozan scored 20 points with six rebounds in his lone game against the Thunder.
Another key in McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Pelicans swingman Garrett Temple ($3,100 on DraftKings and $3,600 on FanDuel). Starting small forward Brandon Ingram (ankle) will miss Monday’s game against Indiana, likely pushing Temple towards getting starter’s minutes. As a starter this season, Temple has at least doubled his offensive productivity compared to his typical output off the bench.
This season, he has averaged 9.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 12 starts. He also hits three-point attempts at a significantly higher rate of 37 percent over his 33.7 percent as a reserve. Pacers opponents have hit 35 percent of their collective three-pointers this season when Indiana is the visiting side, so Temple should let a few fly in a rare start on Monday.
