UCLA hasn’t played a currently ranked team in 45 days. Arizona hasn’t played one in 34. So it’s been a while since either Pac-12 program has participated in a game that truly resonates nationally.

But that’ll change Tuesday night.

Tuesdays are always fun nights of college basketball, and this Tuesday is no exception. Auburn will be playing as the No. 1 team in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the first time in history. Michigan State is at Illinois. Texas is at TCU. But the biggest game on the schedule, by far, is the rescheduled game between Arizona and UCLA that’ll be played inside Pauley Pavilion.

The Wildcats and Bruins are a combined 29-3 overall and 11-3 in league games. Both have been really good this season — though Arizona has been slightly better, which is among the reasons the Wildcats are 3.5-point favorites on the road. To date, Tommy Lloyd’s team only has two Quadrant 1 wins — an 80-62 victory over Michigan in November, and an 83-79 win at Illinois in December — but the Wildcats’ efficiency numbers are among the best in the country. They’re the only team that ranks in the top 10 in both adjusted offensive efficiency and adjusted defensive efficiency, according to KenPom. They play fast. They play hard. They play well. They are, quite clearly, legitimate national title contenders in their first year under the longtime Gonzaga assistant.

Arizona is No. 5 in Tuesday morning’s updated CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 daily college basketball rankings. UCLA is No. 11. Tip-off for Tuesday’s showdown between the Wildcats and Bruins is scheduled for a little after 11 p.m. ET.
