Arguably the biggest women’s boxing match in history is set to go down on April 30, with undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor taking on Amanda Serrano, a world champion across seven weight classes. Adding to the prestige of the event, Taylor and Serrano will battle in the main arena of Madison Square Garden, making them the first two women to ever headline a fight card in the iconic arena.

Taylor (20-0, 6 KO) won the WBA championship in her seventh fight and added the IBF title two fights later with a decision over Victoria Bustos. She continued adding belts to her collection with a TKO win over Rose Volante to capture the WBO title and a majority decision win over Delfine Persoon to become WBC champion, making her a four-belt world champion.

The fight with Persoon, as well as their rematch, ranks as one of the most entertaining bouts of the past several years, with both women putting on an incredible display of toughness.

Serrano (42-1-1, 30 KO) has held championships at junior bantamweight, bantamweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight in her career.

She is undefeated since April 2012 and has become a force in every division in which she has competed. In her most recent fight, Serrano moved back to lightweight and beat Miriam Gutierrez on the undercard of the rematch between Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul. That move was believed to be in the interest of setting up the fight with Taylor, as Gutierrez had also lost to Taylor in a bid for the lightweight titles.

Serrano is signed to Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and Paul has been vocal in pushing Serrano’s place in boxing. Now, she has the chance at stardom in the world’s most famous arena.
