The UAB Blazers are 7-2 against the Marshall Thundering Herd since January of 2016, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Blazers’ road trip will continue as they head to Henderson Center at 7 p.m. ET to face off against Marshall. UAB should still be feeling good after a victory, while Marshall will be looking to regain their footing.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday UAB proved too difficult a challenge. UAB skirted by the Hilltoppers 68-65 thanks to a clutch half-court bomb from guard Jordan Walker with 0:03 left to play. Having forecasted a close win for UAB, the oddsmakers were right on the money. Their Walker filled up the stat sheet, picking up 21 points and five assists.
Speaking of close games: the Thundering Herd were close but no cigar on Thursday as they fell 81-79 to the Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders. The losing side was boosted by guard Andrew Taylor, who had 22 points in addition to seven rebounds.
The Blazers’ win brought them up to 17-4 while Marshall’s defeat pulled them down to 7-13. A pair of stats to keep an eye on: UAB comes into the game boasting the 17th most points per game in college basketball at 80.5. Less enviably, Marshall is 18th worst in college basketball in points allowed per game, with 76.3 on average.
