The Air Force Falcons and the Utah State Aggies will face off in a Mountain West clash at 9 p.m. ET Feb. 1 at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Both teams looked pretty sloppy on the offensive side of the ball the last time they faced off, scoring just 96 points combined.
It was close but no cigar for the Falcons as they fell 63-61 to the Wyoming Cowboys last Friday. The top scorer for Air Force was guard A.J. Walker (18 points).
Meanwhile, Utah State took their contest against the Nevada Wolf Pack this past Saturday by a conclusive 78-49 score. Utah State got double-digit scores from six players: forward Justin Bean (12), guard RJ Eytle-Rock (12), guard Steven Ashworth (11), guard Max Shulga (11), forward Brandon Horvath (10), and guard Sean Bairstow (10).
Air Force have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 14.50 point spread they are up against. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 8-4 against the spread when expected to lose.
Air Force is now 10-9 while the Aggies sit at 12-9. A couple offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Falcons are stumbling into the game with the 351st fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 59.8 on average. Utah State’s offense has more to brag about, as they they rank 29th in college basketball when it comes to field goal percentage, with 47.80% on the season. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
