Marquette @ Connecticut
Current Records: Marquette 16-7; Connecticut 15-6
What to Know
The #18 Marquette Golden Eagles and the #24 Connecticut Huskies will face off in a Big East clash at 6:30 p.m. ET Feb. 8 at XL Center. Marquette will be strutting in after a victory while the Huskies will be stumbling in from a loss.
Marquette netted an 83-73 win over the Villanova Wildcats last week. Marquette can attribute much of their success to forward Justin Lewis, who had 19 points along with nine boards. Lewis had some trouble finding his footing against the Providence Friars last week, so this was a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, the matchup between UConn and Villanova this past Saturday was not particularly close, with UConn falling 85-74. The losing side was boosted by guard R.J. Cole, who had 25 points.
The Golden Eagles are expected to lose this next one by 7. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a nine-game streak of ATS wins.
Marquette’s win brought them up to 16-7 while UConn’s defeat pulled them down to 15-6. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Marquette ranks 20th in college basketball when it comes to blocked shots per game, with 5.2 on average. But UConn is even better: they come into the contest boasting the second most blocked shots per game in college basketball at 6.7. Points in the paint might be hard to come by.
