Superstar James Harden was officially introduced as the newest member of the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday. Harden will now team up with Joel Embiid as the dynamic duo looks to lead the 76ers to their first NBA title in almost 40 years. Harden was the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade that sent him to Philadelphia and former No. 1 pick Ben Simmons to the Nets.

Harden will sport a new number when he puts on the 76ers uniform for the first time. Harden will wear No. 1 in Philadelphia after wearing No. 13 throughout his NBA career. You can buy Harden’s new jersey here. We may receive a commission for purchases made through these links.

The 76ers have retired No. 13, which was worn by Wilt Chamberlain. Chamberlain averaged 30.1 points and 22.9 rebounds per game over his 14-year career. He won the NBA MVP award four times in his illustrious career and remains the only player to score 100 points in a single game. Chamberlain helped Philadelphia claim the NBA championship in 1967, and Harden will look to add another piece of hardware to the 76ers’ trophy cabinet this season.

Harden now joins a 76ers team that currently ranks fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 34-23 record. Harden is expected to miss Philadelphia’s final two games prior to the All-Star break, as well as the All-Star Game on Sunday, before returning to the court on Feb. 25 against the Timberwolves. Harden has been one of the league’s best facilitators this season and will flourish in that role playing with Embiid in Philadelphia. Harden is averaging 10.2 assists per game this season, which ranks second in the NBA. The 32-year-old is also scoring an average of 22.4 points per game.

“I think we complement each other,” Harden said in his introductory press conference on Tuesday. “Obviously, the whole world knows how great Joel has been playing — not just scoring with the basketball, but rebounding. He had a triple-double last game. His presence alone is unbelievable.”

Harden is expected to elevate the 76ers’ offense, which ranks 21st in the NBA in averaging 107.2 points per game. For his career, he is averaging 25.0 points, 6.7 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game.
