What to Know
The New York Knicks’ road trip will continue as they head to American Airlines Center at 8:30 p.m. ET Wednesday to face off against the Dallas Mavericks. The Knicks aren’t expected to win, but seeing as the odds didn’t stop them last game, maybe the squad has another upset up their sleeve.
New York had enough points to win and then some against the Sacramento Kings on Monday, taking their matchup 131-115. The win came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 33-17 deficit. Power forward Julius Randle had a stellar game for New York as he shot 8-for-16 from beyond the arc and finished with a double-double on 46 points and ten rebounds. Randle hadn’t helped his team much against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, so this was a nice turnaround for him. Randle’s points were the most he has had all year.
Meanwhile, Dallas was able to grind out a solid victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday, winning 111-103. Point guard Luka Doncic continued his habit of dropping crazy stat lines, shooting 5-for-11 from downtown and finishing with a double-double on 35 points and 16 boards along with seven dimes.
New York is expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Oklahoma City Thunder Feb. 14 easily too and instead slipped up with a 127-123. In other words, don’t count Dallas out just yet.
