Who’s Playing
Oklahoma @ Baylor
Regular Season Records: Oklahoma 17-14; Baylor 26-5
What to Know
The #3 Baylor Bears are 10-3 against the Oklahoma Sooners since January of 2016, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Baylor and Oklahoma are set to clash at 7 p.m. ET March 10 at T-Mobile Center in the second round of the Big 12 Conference Tourney.
The Bears beat the Iowa State Cyclones 75-68 this past Saturday. Baylor’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of guard James Akinjo, who had 20 points and six assists, and guard Kendall Brown, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma was able to grind out a solid win over the Kansas State Wildcats this past Saturday, winning 78-71. Oklahoma can attribute much of their success to guard Umoja Gibson, who shot 7-for-12 from downtown and finished with 29 points.
A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Bears rank 24th in college basketball when it comes to steals per game, with 8.7 on average. Less enviably, the Sooners have allowed their opponents an average of 7.8 steals per game, the 13th most in college basketball. In other words, they will need to work extra hard to take care of the ball.
