Through 2 Quarters

We’ve seen some fireworks two quarters in as the Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets have combined for 129 points. Either team is in a position to win, but Atlanta leads 67-62.

Center Clint Capela has led the way so far for the Hawks, as he has dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. One thing to keep an eye out for is Onyeka Okongwu’s foul situation as he currently sits at three.

Charlotte has been led by power forward Miles Bridges, who so far has 18 points and two assists along with three rebounds.

Charlotte hasn’t been much of a second-half team this season, losing 76% of the time when they were down at the break.

What to Know

After a three-game homestand, the Atlanta Hawks will be on the road. The Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets will face off in a Southeast Division battle at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday at Spectrum Center. Keep an eye on the score for this one: these two teams posted some lofty points totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet.

Atlanta beat the Portland Trail Blazers 122-113 on Monday. Atlanta’s point guard Trae Young was on fire, posting a double-double on 46 points and 12 dimes in addition to six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Charlotte strolled past the Oklahoma City Thunder with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 134-116. Shooting guard Terry Rozier and power forward Miles Bridges were among the main playmakers for Charlotte as the former had 30 points along with six boards and the latter shot 5-for-6 from downtown and finished with 27 points and six assists.

Barring any buzzer beaters, Atlanta is expected to win a tight contest. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past six games, so buyers beware.

The wins brought the Hawks up to 34-34 and the Hornets to 34-35. Atlanta is 17-16 after wins this season, Charlotte 18-15.
