UFC prepares for a big 2022 event schedule following the company’s feverish pace of pay-per-views and Fight Nights in 2021. Championships are at stake, revenge schemes are plotted and opportunities are rife for fresh faces to cement their place as the next big thing.
The promotion has seen a pair of its champions stand tall to start the year as heavyweight king Francis Ngannou turned away interim titleholder Ciryl Gane in January while middleweight champ Israel Adesanya did the same to former titleholder Robert Whittaker for a second time in February.
That month closed out with Islam Makhachev reminding once again why he may be the next lightweight title challenger after dismantling late-replacement foe Bobby Green.
Then to kick off March, Colby Covington did what he said he would against Jorge Masvidal in dominating his former teammate over five rounds for the win. Now, Covington has begun angling for another rival to step in the cage with him: former lightweight title challenger Dustin Poirier.

The promotion returned to London with a massive show that saw just about every fight give fans an exciting moment. Now, they return to the States with another show on the road, this time in Columbus, Ohio. The main event sees another pair of heavyweights clash when Curtis Blaydes takes on Chris Daukaus. Blaydes most recently earned a decision over Jairzinho Rozenstruik in September. Daukaus, meanwhile, suffered a TKO loss to Derrick Lewis that ended a five-fight win streak.
