The Memphis Grizzlies will have to get by for the majority of the remainder of the regular season without their best player. On Thursday, Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins announced that Morant would be re-evaluated in two weeks due to a tweaked knee. Morant suffered the injury in Memphis’ recent meeting with the Atlanta Hawks, and he has missed the team’s last two games as a result.

While the injury to Morant obviously isn’t ideal, there are a couple of silver linings here. First, the Grizzlies expect Morant to be back before the playoffs start, which is the most important thing. Memphis currently sits second in the Western Conference playoff picture.

“We expect him to make a full recovery before the playoffs, and we’re excited about that with two and a half weeks left in the season,” Jenkins said, via ESPN. “We’ll offload him early, then he’ll start reloading pretty soon here with that two weeks in mind to reevaluate.”

The second silver lining is the fact that the team has actually been extremely good without Morant this season. In fact, they’ve gone 15-2 in games that he hasn’t played in. Such success is a testament to their overall depth and talent on the team.

Morant is in the midst of a stellar campaign that has him being mentioned in both the Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player conversations. He’s averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.2 steals in 33.3 minutes per game.
