LeBron James‘ April Fools joke on social media about missing the rest of the season didn’t ingratiate himself with frustrated Lakers fans on Friday, but they did get some verified good news the day before. After missing 17 games with a foot injury, Anthony Davis is set to make his return to action on Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. After the long layoff, can daily Fantasy basketball players count on him to produce in his return for their NBA DFS lineups?
Davis missed both games the Lakers played against the Pelicans this season, but historically, he has been strong against his former team. In five previous starts against New Orleans, he has averaged 27.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and two steals. Davis is a star, but are there more trustworthy options in the NBA DFS player pool that aren’t coming off a long absence? Before you make your NBA DFS picks, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.
On Thursday, McClure listed Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Antetokounmpo scored 44 points to go with 14 rebounds and six assists to return 70.5 points on DraftKings and 64.8 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included them in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.
Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Friday, April 1, NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NBA DFS picks for Friday, April 1
One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks on Friday is Nuggets center Nikola Jokic ($12,500 on DraftKings and $11,600 on FanDuel). Over his last five games, the reigning league MVP has been playing at a tremendously high level. In those starts, he has averaged 31.2 points, 12.8 rebounds and eight assists.
The Nuggets host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, who they have played three times already this season. In those games, Jokic averaged 24.7 points, 15 rebounds and 8.7 assists. Minnesota is coming off of consecutive losses to the Celtics and Raptors. Against Boston, center Robert WIlliams had 13 points, 10 rebounds and a block before injuring his knee, and against the Raptors, center Pascal Siakam had 12 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.
Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Grizzlies power forward Brandon Clarke ($4,000 on DraftKings and $4,400 on FanDuel). Memphis’ starting lineup could look more different than usual with Ja Morant (knee) out and four other top players listed as doubtful for Friday’s matchup against Phoenix. Clarke should see a significant workload at home tonight, and he has been playing well recently, although he missed two games on Sunday and Tuesday due to a hip injury.
Over his last three appearances, Clarke averaged 12 points and six rebounds and hit 56 percent of his shots. Clarke was only deployed sparingly in Memphis’ last game against Phoenix, but he made more of an impact in the first meeting between the two sides. On Nov. 12, Clarke scored eight points with four rebounds and two blocks in just over 19 minutes of action.
