MLB DFS: Top DraftKings and FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, lineup advice for Monday, May 16, 2022

The Pittsburgh Pirates are battling to stay competitive in the NL Central and are doing so primarily with the bat of outfielder Ben Gamel. Over his last two weeks, he’s played in 12 games and been ultra-efficient in the batter’s box, with offensive splits of .370/.431/.609. During that stretch, he came away with 17 hits, two home runs, eight RBI and three doubles, but can he keep it up for your MLB DFS lineups on Monday?

The Pirates begin a series against the Chicago Cubs on Monday and starting pitcher Wade Miley, who had a disastrous first start this season on May 10. Miley gave up five hits, three runs and walked five in just three innings against the Padres, so perhaps finding a Pirates stack in the MLB DFS player pool could be advantageous for daily Fantasy baseball players on Monday. Before you make your MLB DFS picks, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Sunday, he highlighted Astros second baseman Jose Altuve in his MLB DFS player pool on both FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Altuve hit his seventh home run of the season and scored twice to return 19 points on DraftKings and 24.9 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, as the 2022 MLB season continues, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Monday, May 16. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Monday, May 16, 2022

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Monday is Giants first baseman Brandon Belt, who is listed at $4,500 on DraftKings and $3,800 on FanDuel. Belt was hitless on Sunday in San Francisco’s series finale against St. Louis, but he’s been a reliable hand in his last five games. During that stretch, he has six hits with a double, two RBI and a .300 batting average.

The Giants move on to start a series at Colorado on Monday and Rockies starting pitcher Antonio Senzatela. So far this season, Senzatela holds a career-high WHIP of 1.95, to go with a 4.88 ERA. Belt has more experience against Senzatela than any other Giants hitter and has come away with six doubles and four other hits in 23 total at-bats against him.

Another part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes stacking Belt with San Francisco outfielder Joc Pederson ($4,200 on DraftKings and $3,400 on FanDuel). Pederson’s numbers don’t look encouraging on their face, but there is reason for optimism when he gets back to work on Monday at Coors Field. In road games this season, Pederson has splits of .298/.320/.723 with six home runs and 11 RBI.

After Dodger Stadium, where Pederson played his home games from 2014 through 2020, and San Diego’s Petco Park, Coors Field has been where he’s cracked his third-most career homers, with eight. Against Senzatela, Pederson has a home run and two doubles in 19 career at-bats. Pederson has also been at his best this year against right-handed starting pitchers, as all seven of his homers this season have come in such matchups in addition to 13 of his 14 runs batted in.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for Monday, May 16, 2022

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Monday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
