2022 Haskell Stakes horses, contenders, odds, date: Expert who nailed Belmont exacta gives picks, predictions

The road to the Breeders’ Cup stops at Monmouth Park in New Jersey on Saturday for the 2022 Haskell Stakes. Jack Christopher enters the 2022 Haskell Stakes field as a favorite after going undefeated in his four races leading up to Saturday’s event. The three-year-old colt last raced in the Woody Stephens Stakes at Belmont Park on June 11, where he took the lead coming out of the last turn and pulled away from the competition for an easy victory. He is listed at 3-2 in the 2022 Haskell Stakes odds.

Santa Anita Derby winner Taiba is the 7-5 favorite to win the Haskell Stakes 2022. Four-time race-winner White Abarrio is 5-1 among the 2022 Haskell Stakes horses, while Matt Winn Stakes winner Cyberknife is 6-1. With so much to consider, you’ll want to see what SportsLine’s Jody Demling has to say before entering any 2022 Haskell Stakes picks or horse racing predictions of your own, considering his spectacular track record in this race.

A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing about, talking about and betting on races for years, Demling enters the Haskell Stakes 2022 having nailed the winner of the Belmont Stakes, the horse racing calendar’s last major race, four of the last fives years, including an exacta this year with Mo Donegal.

Demling is at his best in the biggest horse races in the world like the Haskell. He has hit 10 of the last 14 Derby-Oaks doubles at Churchill Downs. That means he held a ticket with the winners of both races all but four times in the last 14 years. He’s also called nine of the last 18 Preakness winners, keenly understanding when the Kentucky Derby winner was poised for victory or a massive upset, and nailed this year’s Preakness trifecta. Anyone who has followed him is up huge.

Now, with the Haskell Stakes 2022 approaching, Demling is sharing his picks and predictions over at SportsLine. Go here to see them.

Top 2022 Haskell Stakes predictions

One of Demling’s surprising 2022 Haskell Stakes picks: He is fading Taiba, even though he is the 7-5 favorite. In fact, Demling says Taiba barely even hits the board. The three-year-old colt hasn’t raced since the Kentucky Derby in May, and the expert thinks the long layoff will do this Bob Baffert-trained horse a disservice.

Taiba is also not the fastest horse on the 2022 Haskell Stakes lineup, entering Saturday’s race with an Equibase Speed Figure high of 102. For comparison, Jack Christopher’s top speed is 108. Taiba also has a tendency of slowing down in the last leg of races and is put at a higher risk of doing that on Saturday since he hasn’t raced in almost three months. See which horses to pick here.
